Is Asking for Contractor Recommendations Allowed?

So I read through the posting rules.... I looked at the Contractor Locator Map and the closest contractor on the map is a bit over an hour away. So, I was wondering if it's allowed to ask for suggested contractor near to my location in my area?

Basically, I guess, I'm a bit tired of calling a company and they come out (or over the phone) and saying:
* "hmmm, looks like a you an x ton unit."
* "you got a n unit, price for the same size is blah."
* "Manual J? Oh, I think the engineer is out this week."
* "Let's see you got an x ton, I got a y ton for $n".
* and on and on.
