Which brand do you recommend and which size? I've been doing a bit of research. I realize the most important part is a reliable installer/service company. I have narrowed that down with recommendations from friends and Yelp reviews. The units the 3 dealers sell are Amana, Goodman, Carrier, and Trane. We have had 2 come out so far, Amana and Trane. The Amana guy doesn't offer any warranty, the Trane person offers 2 years labor otherwise warranties are the same. Amana says I need an 80BTU (?) unit, Trane says 60. We live in zone 5, the thumb of MI. Our home is 1100 sq ft and insulation so-so. We do not have air conditioning currently and may or may not get it now. The price of the Trane and Amana are very close. Waiting to hear from the Goodman/Carrier guy. Any and all advice is appreciated.
