Sink gurgling persists after condensate line has been cleaned

Hi All,

My sink was making a gurgling noise. My AC condensate line drains into the sink plumbing. I flushed the line with vinegar, as I did when the noise happened a year ago, and the noise stopped. This time, it started up again after two weeks, so I tried bleach. Still no luck.

I paid a handyman to come with a wet vac and to take a look. He cleared it out with the wet vac and got out a bunch of gunk, but there is still gurgling. He said he's never seen a condensate line set up anything like that in his 40 years of doing handyman work. Looking online, it seems there is a lot of argument as to whether this is normal or not. I live in Florida and as far as I can tell it is actually uncommon here.

He suggested putting a plug in the opening of the sink because it stops the noise, and that otherwise I need to have an HVAC professional come and redo the whole thing. I'm perfectly fine with the plug solution if that is all I need to do, but I don't want to have problems down the line because of it.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!
