Heat Pump seems to be over cooling

5 Ton 8-year old Carrier split system, air handler in basement, condenser outside. No problems for 8 years, have had annual maintenance performed (cleaning, checking pressures, etc etc etc).

In the past several months seems its over cools. I have thermostat set on 75 but it keeps it 71 and 72 in the house. Our feet get cold and its July !

I thought I had found the problem a few weeks ago. I discovered the flap or damper on the humidifier (its connected to my duct side of the air handler, has water line going to it and has a moisture filter or pad). I closed the damper to SUMMER mode which is closed position. Next day wonderful, its set on 75, the house was at 75. Now 2-3 weeks later, I'm finding 71 and 72 on the thermometer and thermostat is on 75. Not sure how or why a heat pump would be over-cooling. Any ideas that I can check or get checked by a tech?
