I own a townhouse and the association governs all aspects of the exterior aesthetic. They have told me that when I replace the A/C, the contractor has to re-use the existing line-set. Presumably because it is under the siding and isn't visible. Every major HVAC shop I called that sells Trane, Lennox and Carrier have all told me the same thing, if they do re use the line-set, it will void all parts and labor warranties.
I have told the association this and they have taken it "under advisement" but in the mean time, I can't replace the A/C and it will be 80+ all this week. My elderly step father lives there, he needs the A/C working. He has home health aids that come in, if one of them should report back to the state that his living conditions aren't safe, they will come down on me. I'm stuck between an association that isn't budging and the weather which is getting warmer.
The system is a 2.5 ton R410A system. Can the existing line set me used? Is it normal to void warranties?
