Hello, first post newbie here. I'm neck deep in a total remodel on my house and doing most the work myself. I'm in southwest Michigan, climate zone 5, R-60 ceiling and R-30 walls. I've got some numbers from loadcalc.net but haven't done a blower door test yet though should be under 3ACH. I'm planning on using in floor hydronic radiant heat and want to install mini-splits mainly for AC but the supplemental heat since hydronic can be slow to react sounds like a good benefit as well. I will have 2 intelli-balance 100 ERV's for fresh air exchange and I'm still installing bath exhaust fans to hopefully mitigate any humidity issues. I'm hoping to get some feedback on any issues I may have moving forward with this system, probably most curious about the operation and sizing of the mini splits, not sure if you guys can help with that here? I was reading posts on this forum and others about how crucial correct sizing seems to be as well as how hard it is to find competent HVAC companies since mini splits are pretty new to most markets, especially in the colder regions. With all that said I was running the loadcalc numbers based on the cooling btu's and not really looking at the heat at all, am I off base in this line of thinking? Hoping to catch any errors before not after. I have more questions but I think this is good starting point and will defer to any pro's out there that can help guide the dialogue. Appreciate any advice or input.
