Hi, installed XV20i, TAM9, and XL1050 thermostat, 3 ton in a 2400sqft 2 story home in WV. It also has a 15kW element heater in the blower.
Long story short, I have concerns about the sizing of the outdoor unit and need to be able to correctly interpret the XL1050 history tab to know just how aux heat operates.
There are 5 heating options it can store runtime in:
- Heat
- Stage 2 Heat
- Aux Heat
- Stage 2 Aux Heat
- Stage 3 Aux Heat
I don't care much between the two main heat stages, I imagine it buckets in the Stage 2 during high compressor loads. However I want to understand if this system uses the aux heat with the heat pump at times in the event the heat pump can't maintain temp or if its sole function is for emergency heat and defrost modes?
In either case, what are the 3 buckets for aux heating indicating?
