Help!!!! Payne Gas Pack PY#GNAA24060AATP, Ten years Old, Under warranty, ISSSUE

I have a Payne Gas Pack PY#GNAA24060AATP

Manual Sheet below with specs (would not let me post link but can provide from carrier site)

I have been trying to get this fixed for a while and unit is acting very strange.

Started off with calling hvac company and initially the inducer motor was bad. Replaced that and then he said the Heat Exchanger was cracked. I Found out the Heat Exchanger was still under warranty and had a 20 year warranty on it and unit is only ten years old today. Unit has been a good unit throught the ten years and never had any issues to speak of.

Anyways another hvac company did the Heat Exchanger warranty work and replaced heat exchanger. Unit still not working. This company then proceeded to replace the Gas Valve, Inducer Motor (Again), And Main Control Board. He then called me back and said he can not figuire out what is wrong with it and I was shit out of luck basically.

Went back myself with the original hvac to try to get a hold of what was going and we worked to diagnose and isolate the problem. Basically, The unit will fire up for about 3 seconds and then cut off. This will repeat indefinitely. The control board will show no codes. AFter doing some research I believe it could be flame sensor and the flame rectification not working right. Replaced Flame sensor after cleaning just to be on safe side and same thing. We have measured the microamps in series with the flame sensor and will show 3.2 microamps when flame is being sensed which from my understanding should rule out the flame sensor.

Have replaced Pressure Switch even though pressure switch tested fine and still does the same thing.

It seems everything should be working right and all the sensors should be working right and the board is not throwing a code but the unit will just fire for three seconds then cut off and will do this indefinitely.

At this point the just about every part has been replaced on the heat side (Heat Exchanger, board, Flame sensor, pressure switch, gas valve, etc.) and nothing seems to work.

I am at the point now that i think the board my be bad even though it is new. But before put a new board in it I would like to see if there is any advice anyone may have.

I am a general contractor myself and own rental properties. I am not a HVAC tech myself but owning properties I have an above average knowledge of the HVAC system but again I am not an HVAC tech myself. I have called two different HVAC companies and none seem to be knowledgeable enough to correctly diagnose the problem. If there was someone in my area who I thought I could call that could diagnose and fix I would call as well but most HVAC companies seem to just send a tech who does the basic diagnosis and just replace parts like what has gone on. The HVAC installer who installed the unit for me orginally has since passed away unfortunately and he actual had a mechanical engineer degree and I know he could solve the issue because he was a step above the bast hvac tech. Since his passing I have yet to find another HVAC company with the knowledge he had and most seem to be able to just replace parts based off the error code on the board and most dont seem to have the knowledge to properly diagnose the exact problem before just throwing parts at it. Hence the reason I am more involved now so I can attempt to rule out and narrow down possibilites before have to replace a 10 year old unit that has new everything. AC works fine on unit so just the heat side.

I am not a wasteful person by nature and hat to just throw out a unit that is basically new on the heat side over something that I keep thinking is something simple but is DRIVING ME CRAZY. My curiosity also has got the best of me and really want to see this problem solved as it has kind of become one big puzzle!

I have videos of it as well I can provide, but basically fires for three seconds then cuts off, does it over and over. Name: image1.jpeg Views: 20 Size: 108.0 KB
