I have never used one of these units before, and it's always been radiators, or central heat before. Am in Brooklyn now, where temperatures are very cold. I really needed some advice, since I can't get a HVAC expert here for several weeks (!!).
I moved into this place, and there are Mitsubishi Mr. Slim units in each room (model MSZ-GE06NA). I'm on the 3rd floor of a 4 floor building and the units are on the roof. When we first moved in, they would blow cool air no matter what, and would never heat up. So some contractors came, replaced the circuit board as they noticed it was burned - must have been shorted or something. Replacing the board didn't make it work, and then they replaced the rusted out, severely damaged compressor. Okay so they changed that. All was working fine, and the units worked so well, and the place would get so warm quick - maybe even too warm!
All worked very well, but now in very cold temperatures, as it is now, if I have the bedroom or living room set to even 82F, it blows but just lukewarm air. Sometimes even cold. I left the bedroom on for a while, and it stops blowing air even. I know the temperature in the room is not close to what I set the heat to. Also, sometimes, when it is not blowing any air, I will shut it off for 10 minutes, and turn it back on. Then it seems to work again. If I shut off the units for 10 minutes then they work for maybe 15 minutes, blowing hot air, but then either stop or start blowing cold or Luke warm air. I can't notice any patterns. Could it be the freon is running out, that the circuitry is bad, or the thermometer is bad on the actual unit upstairs? I just want a second opinion, or any things to try.
I am so frustrated - since I have never used these units before, and really don't know what can be wrong. They did work after the repairs, but on these very cold days (23F), they seem to work very inconsistent.
Thank you for any help - truly.
