Hi,
My furnace went out a few hours ago and need to make a quick decision on replace vs repair. I currently have a Bryant Evolution installed in 2007. I am getting an error code 42 and a service technician had us try a few things over the phone and concluded the inducer motor is bad and needs replacing. He also said the secondary heat exchanger probably needs to be replaced with some warranty coverage from Bryant.
Since the furnace is already 14 years old, he is offering up a Bryant 926TB 480V17 and can be out tomorrow morning to install it. Bryant has a buyback program on our furnace and our local utility is offering a rebate so the final cost to replace will be about $2k more. I am heavily leaning towards getting the new furnace instead of repairing the existing unit. Another note is that if I take the warranty help with the existing secondary heat exchanger, I will not be eligible for the buy back program at a later date. I live in Michigan and it is very cold so don't have time to research best furnaces so wanted to ask if the Bryant 926TB is a good unit. Any help will be greatly appreciated!
