Hey Everyone, I am a retired Refrigeration Mechanic who used to work on Refer units in the front of Tractor Trailer Trailers. With that said, This past summer I installed a Heat-pump/AC unit from Senvile into my house. The installation went really fast and when it was all done it worked great. Fast forward to the winter. In heat mode the unit starts to drop off producing heat when the temps outside fall below 15*. Now I know this would happen because the Seer Rating is 19.
My question to you HVAC Guys is this, Can you trick the outdoor unit to think it is warmer outside then it really is? My expertise was on the big rigs and they aren't close to these so any info I can get would be helpful.
I was thinking of aiming a heat lamp at the sensor that detects the ambient temp to fool it. Would that work to get more heat out of it?
Thanks Guys for your comment in advance.
