We moved into the residence where we live now, about 17 years ago. We were not aware that the previous owner had removed the wall partition between the formal living and family room. With that partition went the returns - which we were made aware of, about 8 years later, when we installed a new AC unit (and the installer told us). With the partition removed, it took out returns in two upstairs bedrooms as well.
Fast forward, we installed a HVAC system in our attic - so we have heating and cooling, and all is well.
Before we installed the unit in the attic, we had folks come by to give us options about 'adding' return to the unit in the basement - and no options seemed feasible at that time.
Needless to say, this has been bugging me for a while - I am wondering what our options to add returns might be.
