I set my thermostat to run the fan continuously to keep my home at a consistent temperature. This works well for me and comfort has improved.
I noticed that when a call for heat is made:
1) The blower shuts off for a few seconds then comes to a stop
2) Inducer motor starts
3) Blower motor starts up again and goes to heating cfm speed. It's an ECM motor that rocks back and forth on startup and makes a bit of noise
At first I thought the thermostat was to blame so I jumpered R to G on the furnace and let it run the fan that way instead. This still caused the blower motor to stop and restart on a call for heat. Is this desirable behavior to reduce condensation in a heat exchanger? The shortest runtime I have for a heat call is 20 minutes to avoid short cycling and that combined with the ecm blower running all the time seems to be a good combination.
Are there any ways to stop the blower from stopping and starting every time the burners start? It's a bit of a nuisance and I doubt it is good for the longevity of the blower motor.
