The inducer on my furnace died.
The people who installed my furnace a few years ago botched it and had a ridiculous amount of elbows with 2" PVC that greatly exceeded my MEVL trying to utilize an old hole in the side of my house and save some carpentry work for them. This caused the inducer to die.
The guy that replaced my inducer is going to install a new vent line and said that he's going to use 3" pipe. However, I checked over his plan against the manual and it's clear that 2 1/2" PVC is the correct size. The manual explicitly says use the largest size that works, but if you go too large it's going to cause issues with the furnace. So I don't know why he's chosen 3" unless it's just because 2 1/2" is just impossible to find. I'm worried he's just ignoring it to be easy for him and I want a second opinion. Is 3" going to be okay even though the TEVL would be way way below MEVL?
