I'm posting here at a loss, I feel like I've run out of options.
I have three AC split units in my house, and I've been fighting mold issues with them for the last two years. I've had three different companies come and "professionally" clean the units. I put professionally in quotations because I live in a developing country and I don't think there are any HVAC technicians here that are worth a damn, and suspect the root of the problem goes back to installation.
Anyway, I'm trying to find ANY help with this issue. The last cleaning I had was a month ago and they're already breeding grounds for mold. My wife can't be in the kitchen because her sinuses go berserk almost instantly and the bedroom isn't much better.
I've moved beyond the possibility that the units will ever recover from several bouts of mold, freezing, and the most recent tech confirming that the units weren't installed properly to begin with. They were not properly mounted, and thus the drain pan had no downward decline for the water to drain.
Does anyone have any recommendations for wall units that specifically work well in VERY humid climates? I specifically want units that can be cleaned with a degree of accessibility. The current ones have to basically be dismantled beyond practicality to have any prayer of cleaning the roller fan.
Also, any recommendations for mold inhibitors, and generally avoiding this problem with units that run basically all the time.
I appreciate any help. This has been a two year battle of trying everything and I'm frustrated to the point of tears. I feel like I'm being slowly killed by mold spores, and even the addition of a UV air purifier in the rooms did nothing to stop the growth.
