Amana PTAC (15 yrs old) Heat (Short Cycling) - Help

I have a 15 year old, Amana PTAC wall unit. Model number: PTH123B35AE The A/C works fine. No problems with that. It's when I turn on the heat, that's the issue. The heat turns on and a few seconds later the compressor kicks in. However, within 5 minutes it turns off. Then it will stay off for about 5 or 10 minutes then it turns back on again. It does this over and over again. So, it's short cycling. I ran a diagnostic test and the error code is f6 which means, yellow indoor discharge thermistor. I even ordered the yellow wire but couldn't figure out where it could be connected. Found out later this wire is optional and usually not used.

So, I called an HVAC expert who was suppose to be familiar with PTACs. He had baseline familiarity with them. So, he called a PTAC expert to walk him through the evaluation of my heating unit. It concluded with these three options: I could have them come back and replace the heating assembly unit, for starters. If that didn't work they'd come back again and replace the control board. Both repairs would cost $. If neither worked, they could just come back and replace the unit for around $. Or just start of by replacing the unit. He told me that if it's a compressor issue, it's best to just replace the unit. Again, he wasn't totally sure.

I went ahead and replaced the Amana heating unit and installed a new control board: Amana RSKP0009 Universal Control Board Still the same experience as before. Still getting the diagnostic error code of F6. Again, the air conditioning is working fine but the heater is short cycling like it did prior to the repairs. Meaning it only stays on for 5 or 7 minutes then shuts off then comes back on again (it just repeats this pattern)

Error code: f6 {Where do I install the yellow discharge thermistor wire? I see on the right lower side of the control board a prong that is marked yellow. I'm sure I should connect one of the endings there but I have no idea where the other ending would go. Any suggestions? The tech that came out to check my unit said that my control board doesn't require the thermistor to be connected. When I looked at youtube videos with PTACs that are like mine, I can't find a yellow wire coming from the control board.

Lastly, if my compressor is bad, does my example sound like it is?
