Good afternoon everyone.
I will be having my 13 year old 2 ton condenser unit replaced next spring. It needs to be moved to accommodate some construction. I am leaning towards a 2 stage unit for comfort reasons. How do these actually work? Are there 2 compressors, 2 circuits? Is the compressor variable in some way? 2 run winding's to accommodate different compressor speeds? Is the 2nd stage controlled by a delay timer or the indoor thermostat? Just curious is all.
The furnace is also coming up on 20 years old. I'm sure it is getting close to the end of life regardless of it not giving me any issues (inspected / cleaned yearly).
