Hello!
We have a Magicpak V-Series in our condominium unit. We have a company perform semi-annual maintenance on this unit - once before heating season and once before cooling season.
Shortly after their last visit before cooling season, the evaporator froze over and caused massive water leakage under the flooring.
They returned to the unit to diagnose it as a blocked capillary tube in the evaporator.
They are claiming that their semi-annual testing would not pickup an existing or imminent blockage, but I don't trust them and we are seeking compensation for the damages.
Seeking out the experts here to see if the company was negligent in their maintenance and should have diagnosed more thoroughly.
Some things that come to mind:
1) The compressor has an RLA of 6.7A and they tested ours at 6.2A right before the failure (all other units were in the 3-5A range). Would this not indicate the compressor was working harder due to a blockage?
2) Shouldn't a simple temperature test on full AC have shown little cooling if the evaporator was blocked?
Thanks in advance for any advice!
