First of all, thank you for any assistance you can provide. I really appreciate this community, which has been very helpful to our family in the past. We currently live in ~4000 sq ft a midcentury house in Southwestern Ohio with several heating and cooling systems, which is always fun.
On the the second floor, we have a HEAT CONTROLLER INC. model no. AHW36-50 aquatherm-style forced air system that handles both our heating and cooling for ~1800 square feet. The existing system is 20+ years old and we have had leaks when using the A/C, which was resolved. Now the circulation pump has failed and we have no heat. We have been quoted on replacing just the Grundflos circulation pump and replacing the entire system, including the 7 year old Daikan 3 ton outdoor A/C unit.
It has been very challenging to find companies that work on these old systems and so we are looking for outside advice:
In general, would you recco replacing (a) only the Grundflos pump, (b) the Heat Controller system but not the Daikan A/C unit or (c) everything, including the outdoor unit? In general, are there other, maybe more common technologies that we should consider? Right now Heat Controller mechanicals are sandwiched in a tiny upstairs closet, for reasons that aren't really clear to me. We do have available first-floor utility room space and outdoor space to put additional mechanicals if needed.
Apologies if none of this makes sense. I'm not familiar with anything except traditional furnaces and I may not be using terminology correctly. I'm mostly trying to repeat what the HVAC companies have told us.
