Got a whole house generator (Generac) installed a couple of years ago b/c of Irene/Sandy storms. These storms are regular visitors for North east region now.
Not very well versed with these equipment. How do I get a cost-effective way to maintain the ongoing health of the generator? I have set up a weekly 5-10 min proactive run of the generator to make sure that its running so when time comes, it's ready to take over the house.
Do I need a mainenance plan for this generator or can I do some DIY checking on the equipment? what kind of money are we talking about?
Please advise.
