So I had a new Trane XR13 + coil installed this summer and I have had one issue after another. First weekend it froze over and they discovered that the ducting was insufficient (static of 1.25). Fine, they add a new return and cut it down to .6 . 2 weeks later freezes again and they came out and recharged the system. Speculating it wasnt charged properly and the lineset might be longer than it looks. Works for a week. Ive been monitoring the Delta T for the past week since they came and its starting to go down again. I was looking at the old lineset and there seems to be an oily substance near one of the soldered joints along the line.
Is the oily substance a sign of refrigerant leaking. I would have just gotten a whole new lineset at the beginning but they didnt even push it. Delta T when they last came was 21 and now its around 17-18. (I can measure right above the coil and right at nearest supply). Im going to keep an eye on things for a few more days. I wiped the oily area to see if it re accumulates.
