Trane XL18i two burned compressors in 6 years

I have a 4 ton Trane XL18i heat pump and a 5 ton Trane TAM7 installed in 2015. In 2019 the compressor shorted and was replaced under warranty. This week the compressor failed again. The local installer and servicing company has great reviews and a several personal recommendations from friends and family. But they only offer 90 day of labor warranty. I am worried that these failures are going to continue every 3 years for the length of the parts warranty, at which point the cost will jump significantly. I will have spent 80% the price of a new unit on labor and I will have a 12 year old system that has been hacked on 4 times. Trane.com's own repair or replace calculator ( age x repair_cost < new_unit_cost) says to replace the whole system right now. If i could somehow limit my future exposure to labor costs it would be a non-issue to repair, however I am not seeing a way to accomplish this. I am feeling abandoned by Tane and the local company. Calling around to get quotes on dumb simple 14 SEER right now. What other options do I have?
