Hi,
I am currently under hvac design phase from contractors and debating on which one to go, since price wise they are very close.
House is 1995 and insulation wise is good, with area about 3800 sq ft.
4 mitsubishi hyperheat outdoor units with 18K ducted for second floor (1000 sq ft); 18K on first floor (quite open concept, with 1000 sq ft + 100 sq ft small area with door connected to big area); 18K on first floor bonus room (570 sq ft with 14 ft high ceiling); 12K on second floor bonus room (970 sq ft with some craw ceiling, open concept)
Each unit has its own outdoor units, so I end with 4 outdoor units outside.
2 outdoor units on the back of house
2 outdoor units on the side of house
So they are not really too eye sore (hopefully)
Or
2 Daikin 4MXL outdoor units,
#1 4MXL : 18K ducted second floor (1000 sq ft); 18K on first floor (quite open concept, with 1000 sq ft);
#2 4MXL: 12k on first floor (100 sq ft, I know it is oversized but downsize to 9K is still oversized with $** price difference); 18K on first floor bonus room (570 sq ft with 14 ft high ceiling); 12K on second floor bonus room (970 sq ft with some craw ceiling, open concept)
This solution ends with only 2 outdoor units instead of 4.
Price wise Daikin is around $**** more expensive, it has one more 12K BTU head unit inside the small 100 sq ft area just in case that side has pipe freezing due to a half bath exists there.
I am kinda debating which one to go with and which one will run more efficiently.. Multiple zone on one condenser vs multiple single zone etc.
Any advice will be welcomed!
Thanks!
