Hi folks,
Replacing 22 year old NG furnace and York AC compressor (only 8 years old) with new 80% Lennox signature series furnace and Bosch heat pump for a dual fuel setup in New England. Will be adding a whole house humidifier and MERV16 filter.
Obviously, the setup is specific to my home, siting of units and existing ductwork, but are there any guidelines as to what I should be looking for from a contractor with respect to ease of maintenance, convenience, technological advancements in advance of final installation? It seems like this is a pretty straightforward installation and this site has been a great resource for doing preliminary research, but I look to the experts for any "wish list" ideas that would make for a great installation and ease of use.
One question I have is what should my expectations be once they decommission the existing furnace with respect to cleaning out ducts? Is that something that should be done at least at basement level? Is there any value to getting a shop vac up in the returns and supply ducts to just clean everything out? Something I should do or the contractors should do?
Any tidbits of advice for this replacement would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, in advance.
