Is time frame given for replacement coil actually correct?

Hi,
I have a just shy of 3 yr ol Goodman system that starting blowing warm about 3 weeks ago. Tech came out, checked system and added freon and it lasted about 2 weeks, then started again, he came back out and put in some leak stop, more freon I believe and thought this would hold. Only 2 days later it happened again so we shut system off. Btw, On his first visit he ordered a replacement coil since its under warranty, but he said they are back ordered possibly months, as he has a customer with a different one still waiting for 3 months! We live in FL and cannot live without AC! We called another local much larger AC company and they told us the same thing, that these are all backordered, it had been 7-8 weeks now recently down to possibly 3-4 weeks. Does anyone know if this is going to be the same everywhere? If it takes everyone the same amount if time to get it, we might as well wait for our original tech to do the job, since he installed the system to begin with. For now, I have gotten several window units to take the edge off. I tried a portable unit that just made the house more humid! Would it behoove me to try calling around distribution centers themselves to try to see what came be done, or is that just a waste of time?
Thanks for any advice,
Aliinfl
