I am replacing my second floor system , I have quotes from American Standard dealers and Trane ( basically the same)
Question is , they are both recommending the S9V2 which is the same from both companies , since I have stated I have concerns with humidity removal , my location is in SC , The Trane contractor is recommending a single stage with the variable speed furnace stating that it is a waste for 2 stage since the AC unit ( 2 ton) would mostly be operating in the 2nd stage due to temperatures in the 90's . The American Standard dealer is recommending a 2 stage outdoor for better humidity removal than the single stage stating longer run times. Even with a variable stage wouldn't the run times be the same if the furnace was not a variable speed for the single speed. Obviously there is a cost difference between single and two stage, thoughts ??
