Here in Florida, it is common that line sets be run in a chase under the concrete slab. Years ago, my son had his condenser unit relocated from the rear to side of the house due to a leak somewhere. This shortened the run by half and it was pretty easy as they ran the lines along a garage wall and out.
Present day: we'd like to relocate other son's condenser unit to side of house to solve several current problems. Not as easy this time. The biggest obstacle is getting a chase under the slab. I would not expect the HVAC company to want to even think about that aspect. In my (deluded?) optimism, after much consideration, I believe I could get a chase installed the 10 feet under a bedroom floor to the air handler. One thing that is very helpful is the slope of the yard. The entry through the concrete block would be about 20 inches above grade (so not working in a hole). My question is, would a 3 inch PVC pipe be sufficient to get the line set through the 10 feet or would 4 inch be necessary?
