I inherited a Tam7 which I believe was installed in my home in 2015. It has had intermitten problems with condensation buildup, (it turned out the condensate pump was not running correctly,) but otherwise has been a strong unit.
Yesterday it was very hot in the midwest and I noticed she wasn't cooling the house very well. It got to the point where she was blowing ambient temperature air. I climbed into the underbelly and found Christmas lights coming out of her. The AFC board was showing 5 red LEDs, and the EVC board was showing 15 of them. I pulled the books and from my understanding the AFC 5 code is just saying the boards aren't talking and to check the EVC board, whereas the 15 EVC code is called a "Configuration fault."
So it seems no one wants to talk to anyone else down there. The book claims the EVC 15 LED fault can be related to the Personality Module having an error, and then instructs to cycle the power. What's odd is the Air Handler blower is running as long as I have the AC on, but the Heat Pump won't come on. I checked the heat pump boards and everything is green and happy there.
That leaves me with 2 questions: 1) Is the PM responsible for both error codes? 2) Is the entire EVC board bad, or can PMs go bad on their own?
