I presently have a 3.5 ton A/C unit in my home. My home is a 2500 square foot ranch style. The unit is about 15 years old and gave me many years of service before it started to not work as well. The coils are starting to rust and rot. I have been interviewing contractors for the job. The first estimate was for a Rheem unit. I had mentioned to the contractor that maybe a 4 ton would cool better. The installer said there would be no problem if I wanted to up it to a 4 ton unit. He checked the ducting and said it would work fine.He will be replacing the outside unit and the handler. Most everything else is in fine shape. I have 2 questions How good of a unit is Rheem and will going with the 4 ton be worth it.
