My contractor said this was normal, but I have yet to find any reliable information as to why the following happens.
We have two head units in our home. When the units are set to fan or cool, I am able to adjust the vane (horizontal/vertical) direction and fan speed. When the units are set to heat, while I may continue to customize the vane direction and fan speed on the remote, it rarely adjusts on the unit. With the exception of using the blast mode (which sets fans to 100% and fully opens the vane), I am not able to reliably change the vane/fan speed during heat mode.
I've been told this is a 'feature', but I'm confused as to why the remote still allows me to configure these options if the unit simply won't respond. I've been assured there's nothing wrong with the unit (this was recently installed within the past 8 months).
Can anyone clue me in on the specifics as to why the unit refuses to be manually controlled (vane configuration and fan speed) during heating?
