Pressure switch with one tube on make furnace run

Hello and thanks for your time,

The gas would burn for about a minute and kick out.
I had many things ruled out: flame sensor, circuit board, broken inducer fan, adequate draining, etc.

Nothing worked until I removed one of the two tubes from the pressure switch. The gas furnace now runs perfectly: calls for heat, it runs until temp is reached, then gas shuts off, the fan stays on. All good. ( I think?)

This is a single stage - condensate pressure switch. The voltage and resistance were good. The orange tube is still in, but the black tube was removed. Is this safe? Do I need this tube on? When the black tube is connected, the gas will shut off in about 30 seconds to a minute.
