Looking to purchase a house. During inspection, inspector find upstairs split heat pump has low pressure and won't operate. Also there is oil in the air handler pan in the attic hinting at a leak. Upon further investigation when specing out a repair technician discovers that the air handler is a 2 ton and the condenser unit is a 3ton. The model numbers are:
Air Handler: Lennox CBX27UH-024-230-6-02
Condenser: Lennox 14HPX-036-230-19
So I am wondering if repairing the leak makes any sense at all sense it appears there is big mismatch in the air handler and the condenser unit. Is it ok pair those two units together under any circumstance? Could it have been the cause of the leak?
Thanks,
Scott
