Seeking input on this configuration recommended by my IEP

Hello. I am a soon to be first time homeowner scheduled to close on a house in Miami at the beginning of April and am seeking your overall opinions on the HVAC system upgrades that are being recommended by an IEP who is advising me on the project.

I’ve had mold issues in my current apartment and don’t mind paying extra money to invest in the best possible air quality and quietest system in this new home.

I see a doctor who specializes in CIRS. He is well credentialed and the chair of a department at a major university. Nonetheless, I take some of the CIRS stuff with a grain of salt and believe there is a lot of hysteria online about it. He connected me with an IEP that he trusts. I have CIRS and allergies, but my symptoms are relatively mild and I’d like to keep it that way and improve my indoor air quality.

Here is my plan so far per the recommendations of the IEP (based out of state) following his analysis of the results of air quality samples taken by an onsite mold testing company and swab samples sent to his preferred lab:

-Remove all flex ductwork and replace it with rigid

-Keep existing HVAC air handler and compressor which are about 8 years old

-Install the Perfect 16 air filter by IQ Air and use that instead of the standard existing HVAC filter

-Install a whole-home ionizer like the Air Oasis Bi-Polar 2400 or similar (one that does not generate ozone)

-Install an Ultra Aire whole home dehumidifier and enable the function that pulls fresh air in from outside (IEP says one of the objectives is to positively pressurize the home) target is about 40% humidity

-Remove and clean the coils outside along with full small particle cleaning of the air handler

-Find ways amidst all this to make the HVAC system as quiet as possible. Currently it’s somewhat loud and I still need to seek an onsite evaluation from an HVAC contractor as to why that is and what is possible. Open to electric vents if that allows greater circulation with lower HVAC fan speed, but I know little about this approach.

-Small particle remediation of the entire house after all of the above is completed

Seeking your advice and general input about this setup, selecting the right HVAC contractor, and any tips about do/don’t/best practices.

Home was built in the late 50s, has a flat roof, and central air was added about 30 years ago. Through-wall ACs are still there and connected to a generator for power outages and used periodically to cool just one room at a time. Swapping them out for new ones is part of the plan, but I’m also open to pulling them out and sealing up the walls if viable.

Any input is much appreciated and am happy to provide further details and answer questions.
