New system in central Indiana - HP (no furnace) realistic?

Just as the title says... I'm looking at replacing a nearly 20yr old Amana AC/dual stage furnace system and I'm wondering if a higher end heat pump could handle things in my climate. Obviously we'd put in electric backup heat, but if going this route I wouldn't want it to be used much.

The alternative would be a new AC + furnace system.

We're in the sticks so propane would be the fuel. Power is stable here, but we do get outages once in a blue moon. Still up in the air as to if we want to put in a generator at some point, so not sure if that factor should weigh in or not.

The HVAC guy we're likely to go with quoted some Trane stuff already.

Thanks in advance!
