Carrier Infinity exhaust freeze

Hi
Last summer we bought the Infinity 5 stage furnace at our residence in Wyoming. The PVC exhaust extended out under the width of our deck and was used for over 20 years with the hi efficient Carrier that was replaced (without issue) and was not replaced with the new system. The company also setup the internet ready thermostat and stated it would communicate with their server if there were any issues which was a selling point because we do not live at this residence during the winter. Last January, we notice on our Carrier app that the temp was at 40 degrees (set for 60) so we called Carrier and when the tech got back to us he was dumbfounded and was not aware they monitored our system. We spoke with the supervisor who sold us the system and he was unsure about the monitoring and indicated he would have to check the manual. This did not instill confidence they knew what they were doing. They failed to setup the thermostat correctly. They made a site visit and stated the exhaust was frozen and we will now be asked to pay for the additional services to remedy the issue. Is this something that should have been addressed when they installed the system? Should we have to absorb the additional costs to fix this issue or was it negligence or complete incompetence on their part? What recourse do I have? Can I file with the parent company? Appreciate your feedback.
