I recently got a new HVAC unit (Goodman 4ton, 14seer) installed under my home warranty. I was not able to pick the brand or unit, unfortunately.
Ive been receiving emails from my electricity provider saying that Im using close to 300kwh per day this past week. Granted the temperatures have been in 20s and 30s every day, but I never used this much electricity before even in low temperatures with my old unit.
Nest thermostat is set at 68 degrees but Ive noticed that it does well to keep the temperature at 65-67 degrees. I am using auxiliary heat when outside temps are below 35 degrees. Should I turn that off?
I called my provider and theyre estimating my next bill to be $700. My house is 2100 square feet, so that seems rather high.
Could there be a wiring issue at play or something else wrong? Or am I just going to have to get used to high usage?
The contractor that installed it was very nice but I know he had issues with the wiring and Nest at install.
