WiFi Thermostat Help

Hi Folks,

I hope I've posted this in the right place. I have a new home with AC, a heat pump and gas backup heat. I attempted to install a Honeywell Home thermostat that I expected would work.
I have a 6 wires for the existing thermostat. I took a photo of the original install. I then put the wires in the same spots for the new thermostat. That seemed to align with the instructions that came with the thermostat.

I was able to get Wifi and control the thermostat but it seemed like cold air was coming out of the vents. Also, the thermostat said that it was running the Aux heat. That surprised me b/c it was 47 degrees out. I didn't think the aux would kick on. I then switched the black wire to the L slot. That didn't seem to work either.. Did I have it hooked up correctly in the 2nd picture and just didn't give it enough time to heat up?

I tried to call the Honeywell helpdesk. The wait time was ridiculously long so I figured I'd try here.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Rich
