Hi All,
I am in the market for a new 3.5 ton, 14 SEER gas package unit for my condo and I was told to get a stainless steel HX. One of the contractors wants to use a Bryant 577 (legacy line) which does NOT have a stainless steel HX but instead made up of laminate steel and when I asked him about it he said that since I live in LA (hardly rains) that it the laminate will not rust and so no need for a stainless steel HX. Does this sound correct to you? I thought that the stainless steel HX recommendation was due to the placement of the heat exchanger after the cooling coil (causing they tend to corrode and crack prematurely) and less about the rain. Am I totally off on this?
I am so confused. Thanks so much.
