Had an inexpensive fleebay black box brand uv installed last Feb/Mar and the bulbs seem to be burning out every 4-5 months. The existing box consists of two chinese 9watt pl uv bulbs and presumably (given the 2 prong bulbs) a mag ballast inside. It's on the return air duct and plugged into an outlet, on 24/7, the hvac fan is also set to run continuously. Is there any hope of "better" name brand bulbs lasting longer or is this most likely a you get what you pay for cheap ballast and better off swapping this out for something with an electronic ballast and 4 pin bulbs once these die too?
