I'm having a problem with my York furnace and I'm so lost that it might actually be an air handler. I don't want to cross into DIY and break the forum rules, so I'd settle for help in tracking down the model so I can get started trying to diagnose the issue.
Recently the furnace stopped running and on the front there's three on/off switches each with a red light, the bottom one was illuminated, I flipped the switch back and forth and it came back on. Since then it's been running intermittently, at first it would run for several hours before shutting off and the light coming back on, after a few days it wouldn't say on long at all. Today after I flipped it on there was a more noticeable smell from the vents for a moment and it's stayed on all day, as if maybe the filter or whatever was clogged cleaned out?
I'm guessing the issue is just routine maintenance like cleaning/replacing a filter, but I'm having a very hard time finding anything about this furnace. I'm attaching an image of the front panel with the model/serial number. The model number is n2ahd20a06a. I found an auction listing that had this model number listed as an air handler, but otherwise the closest I can find are references to a model number n2ahd10a06a, however there's no real info on that one either. I found alleged links to a manual for that one, but it was on a file share site I've never heard of that demanded a credit card number to download. From what I can tell about York's model numbers, this one was manufactured in 1974, however I'm told it was installed in 1984 or 85.
I've found multiple guides for the error codes with the lights on the front, but I have no idea if any of them match this unit, and they all seem to have three colors of lights and this one appears to just have three red lights.
So basically, I don't know anything about this model so I'm unable to figure out what the error codes are so I don't know what needs fixing. Beyond that, I'm not sure where I would even find the filter, or anything else inside the unit, as it doesn't appear it can be opened anywhere, but I think asking about that might be against the rules? Any help here at all would be greatly appreciated!
