New Thermostat/Humdistat combo + HRV reducting

Hi everyone

I just moved into my first home back in August. The home was built in 1999

The house has a three zoned radiant hot water system which runs off of a Ultimate (Dunkirk) boiler. One zone does the main floor, one does the finished half of the basement (other half unfinished), and the last does the garage.

There is also a Venmar Constructo HRV that we use for hudmidity control in the winter.

When we moved into the house, the inlet damper of the HRV was not functioning, and the motor seized up shortly after. I replaced both and now the unit works great.

I noticed when I moved in that the HRV was taking all air through two returns on the main floor, then replacing it into the unfinished part of the basement. This didn't seem to make an ounce of sense to me both from a heat recovery standpoint, and by the fact that my basement had a Radon mitigation system (Why would I want to make my basement positive and my main floor negative????).

I did a temporary fix, and set the two return grills on the main floor to actually supply air, then made my main return from the finished side of the basement.

Overall, the unit works pretty well but the rooms still have a tendency to get a little stale at times. Reading on the internet, I see that general good practice is to have these units take air out of the most humid spaces in the house, such as bathrooms and kitchens, and put it into the most used living spaces, such as bedrooms.

This makes sense to me, but is that actually best practice? If so, I place on running new supply ducting with one floor register in each of my three rooms, then using the returns as they were intended. This way, I will get fresh air into every room of the house.

My second question:

I have very old thermostats; the round honeywells with the mercury bulbs inside of them. I am looking to replace the one in the main area of the house with a thermostat that will do my main floor hot water radiant, will also call on the HRV when the humidity is too high and can be programming. Wifi connectability is a plus, but not really a priority of mine.

Can anyone recommend a good device to do all this? I've looked at a handful of honeywell stats, but while the product pages say "Humidity Control? Yes", the product literature has no documentation of humidity control, which makes me think the product pages are B.S.ing a little bit.

Thanks for any help!
