My heat pump will not turn on (no fan no compressor) but the A/C works fine. It's not that it just isn't heating it doesn't physically turn on. Switch to A/C and it will run.
Now the details. We just had a new Trane gas furnace installed with new A/C & HP coils. The outside unit is a 10 year old York and was running fine using the original electric furnace air handler. The installer completed the installation and ran into the above problem. Before leaving he said they gave him a wrong valve and I noticed on the box it said "not for heat pumps". Don't know what the valve was.
The thermostat is a Honeywell VisionPRO IAQ. This is the original thermostat and was working perfectly with the HP before changing to gas and other than the current problem is working fine now. I have checked the wiring and all appears to be correct.
Any ideas why the HP will not turn on but AC will?
