My current heat pump is on its last legs, might already be dead. I've been searching through the supply houses and trying to set my budget. My current conundrum is whether or not I need to replace fan coils when I replace the heat pump. The coils were originally charged with R22, but my reading indicates that my model supports 410a. The existing heat pump does 'not' meet code with regards to placement from obstruction. It's a top exhaust 30x30, and one side is 2 inches from the building. I found a heat pump that is smaller 24x24 and the right tons, but all the fan coils that match with it are not shaped correctly to go into a ceiling.
Do I, or should I replace the fan coils?
Can you mix and match manufactures?
If I can keep the exiting fan coils, is there some sort of maintenance or modification that would need to be made for the change from R22 to 410a
