Hello,
I've been having quite the head scratcher diagnosing the issue with my system. I have a Carrier Infinity Furnace (58MVC060-F) that has been having intermittent heat issues. In the last month it has thrown 216 Code 31s, 218 Code 32s, and 255 (probably more, but it can't store them) Code 42s. I had a technician come a month ago and inspect the furnace to try and figure out what was going on, but unfortunately the system was not experiencing the faults when the technician was looking at it. During the service call the tech cleaned out the condensate trap, but he said it was rather clean, and checked the voltage going into the inducer motor. He locked it into HIGH stage operation only and said that might keep things warmer for us since only the low and medium pressure switches were having code issues, but the issue still occurs. I checked the voltage going to the motor myself while the issue was presenting itself and found that it had 125 volts to the motor and once I plugged it back in the motor didn't turn. It was a bit odd though because my multimeter was showing some odd readings of 140-170 volts at one point. I think that was a fault of the multimeter though because I don't know how greater than 125 could have been making it into my system.
As I'm writing this it appears the system is running again, but I would like some help diagnosing the issue to know if I should have a tech come replace the inducer or not. These are pretty expensive inducers so I would prefer to replace it only if it is going to fix the issue. I checked the condensate trap and it didn't have any debris and it seemed that only residual water came out of the hoses, so it didn't seem clogged.
I've seen on other posts with Code 42s about the flue being a possibility. My run isn't very long, probably only 20 feet total with a 4 foot rise before it exits the house and the pipes are as large as the hole in the side of the furnace will allow.
I'm not sure what other information would be helpful, but I really appreciate it!
Thank you!
