I have done the search and have read what I can but am still unsure about my situation.
Some basic info:
Live in lower Michigan
Roughly 1450 SQ Single story house
Outside temp currently 30
Just added more insulation in the attic (rolled R-19 and about 7 of blown in fiberglass on top of that)
Just had a new Payne 2 stage furnace 60,000 BTUs put in with a A/C unit.
I have noticed that most of the time the furnace will come on and run for 10 minutes then shut off for about 10 minutes, then comes back on for about 10 minutes and off for 10 etc...
I have the thermostat set at 67 currently
I noticed the thermostat room temp does not change always says 67 room temp and set for 67
It is a Emerson thermostat model # 1F83C-11PR
I was concerned that it was cycling too often (from what Ive read on here compared to what other peoples furnaces are doing)
I thought maybe it was overheating and tripping a safety switch so I set it 70 and it ran nonstop until it reached 70 (about 1 hour)
I called my installer and he said that everything is normal and it is common for it to run like it is. He said the thermostat display may not change to 66 before it comes on due to the precision of it (will fire up at 66.5 and off at 67.5 for example) but the display wont change temp. He said that the quick cycles is normal and it will not hurt the furnace in anyway and nothing to worry about. He said I could change the heat cycle rate from the current setting of medium to slow and see if I prefer that more and if I didnt just change it back.
So anyway.... sorry about the long winded post, is he right?? Is my furnace acting normal?
Thanks for the help... after spending this much $$ on it I want it to last a long long time..
