Confused Contractor? - 2 Stage vs Zoning So y2 not connected

In Short: New Technician said that My two stage system has been running as 1 stage because builder did not connect y2 ( 2 stage connection on bryant heat pump) on thermostat. After further investigation, they ran 5 wires instead of the 6 required to connect the blue cable on heat pump to y2 on thermostat. They just capped it off. Leave it as is or Fight for builder to make it right? Quoted 1k to fix both, when builder should have his contractors come out due to possible. negligence

I called builder and his AC contractor said my home did not need it since I do not have a special use case to control different temperatures in areas based on use. To me that sounds like zoning not 2 stage. I bought these units so it could run on high and low. I'm I crazy for thinking a two state unit should always have the 2 stage feature connected or is contractor correct that My house doesnt benefit from 2 stage... remember its a spray foam home and was directed to minimum get 2 stage for helping control humidity.

I recently build a new home with sprayfoam walls and attic 2,550 sqft home. Installed 2 x 2 ton bryant 226A heat pumps that have built in some dehumidification feature and carrier variable speed electric fan coil.

Humidity levels have been in 70s and of course realized at 13 months i month after builder a/c warranty that there were issues and had someone check it out.

Open to listening, I may be wrong but my understanding of 2 stage is totally different from zoning 2 locations.

You'll are amazing!
