Sial Gryp 90AP heater not working

Hi all,

I'm building a garage up here in Canada, and have this heater I've been using to temporarily heat the building. It's a Sial GRYP 90 AP. Its a diesel indirect-fired heater. It's a 90k btu unit. They've also been discontinued and I can't find a troubleshooting manual online. I can find a service training course by Munters that shows the components of similar models. What's supposed to happen is that when the power is turned on, the fan turns on and after about 6 sec. the unit will ignite and run. Sometimes it goes out in a puff of grey smoke but will attempt to light again and continue to run till its warmed up. I went to start the heater this morning and the fan kept running but did not ignite and heat up. Upon closer inspection when I would switch the unit on, after about 10 secs a little bit of grey smoke would come up through the chimney for a few secs and then disappear. It's as if it's attempting to ignite but not completely. It makes a distinct whoosh when it ignites and it was not doing that at all. I'm pretty good with troubleshooting when I have a manual. I can use a multimeter and completely disassemble the unit if I need to. Is there anything really obvious that's happening here? I'm not sure if I should start with the fuel system or the electrical system? Can snow block the compressor inlets and inhibit starting? Is this even the right place to be asking these questions? If there is anyone out there willing to offer a few ideas I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks, Joseph
