Goodman GMVM970804CN modulating furnace with DSZC160361AF heat pump (i.e., dual-fuel system) with Comfortnet CTK04 communicating thermostat. Located in Washington DC.
For several years now, intermittently during heating season, the system throws the following error: "B4 MOTOR TRIPS - Motor off due to a high bus current or a lost rotor condition (lost rotor means the motor cannot determine the rotor position)." The system then locks out and eventually restarts.
This is our downstairs system. The problem seems to start in late fall when the weather cools down. We have had 2-3 such lockouts already in November. We have a second system upstairs that has worked more or less flawlessly since install.
We have had numerous technicians look at the unit, which had other issues as well (not sure if those issues were related to this B4 error, but they seemed to happen at similar times). We have had the board replaced and the bias voltage DIP switches adjusted, among other things.
Any Goodman experts who have seen this problem before? I have posted about it previously, but it just keeps coming back. :^(
