Hello, experts! With all of the talk about fresh air ventilation and Covid, I am considering getting an ERV installed in my house. I live in Washington, DC. Our house is a few years old at this point, and still has a "new house" smell at times (off gassing?), despite having no apparent water/mold issues, so even apart from the Covid stuff I am thinking better ventilation could be good for family health more generally.
So far I have been underwhelmed by the experience of different contractors I've talked to (including some referred by manufacturer websites). Is there a good resource for finding an expert who has been certified in fresh air ventilation systems / techniques?
More specific to our house, would appreciate thoughts on the following:
Any thoughts on the above approach? Is it a big mistake to tie in to our existing ducts? All of the green building sites frown on this approach but I really don't see any alternative.
Thank you!

More specific to our house, would appreciate thoughts on the following:
- We have a fairly modern HVAC system (goodman modulating furnace / variable speed fan with comfort net communicating control). My understanding is the system has a mode that recirculates air to support connected fresh air ventilation unit.
- Adding new ductwork throughout the house is pretty much out of the question. So we are looking at tying into the existing supply / return ductwork.
- I was thinking one of the Honeywell units might be good because the comfortnet thermostat control is actually a Honeywell Prestige and so the two ought to work well together.
Any thoughts on the above approach? Is it a big mistake to tie in to our existing ducts? All of the green building sites frown on this approach but I really don't see any alternative.
Thank you!
