Hi guys,
I recently purchased a home that has a Venmar air exchanger installed (a Venmar HRV Constructo 1.5 ES). I noticed it is ducted in reverse to what is suggested by the manufacturer.
Where typically fresh outside air would flow from top left to bottom right and return from indoors top right and exit bottom left to outside the one I have has fresh air entering from top right to bottom left and returning from the house top left and exhausting to outdoors bottom right.
Is this an acceptable practice or is this likely an install mistake?
In both cases, you have the fresh air and exhaust air mixing correctly in the heat exchanger. The only difference I can see is the two fans in the unit appear to be different sizes. So in the manufacturer suggested set-up you have a larger fan blowing fresh air through the house and in my set-up you have the larger fan exhausting the air from the house to outside instead.
Thoughts?
